René Heideman

René Heideman (1965), studied Applied Physics at the University of Twente, where he also graduated as a scientist and started his work. He continued his career as a product specialist at Twente Micro Products in Enschede and at Mierij Meteo BV in De Bilt.

He is co-founder and CTO of LioniX BV, a company that specializes in integrated optics, micro-fluidics and opto-fluidics (i.e. the interaction between light and fluid within a small chip, for example, using light to learn from liquid compositions, or to show components in blood samples, such as hormones, proteins, etc.).

Heideman is also director of the Panthera Group BV, a holding of (currently) 12 high tech companies, all focusing on the creation of new businesses in micro-and nanotechnology. He has written numerous publications and many patents are issued to him. An example is the patent on an entirely new way to manipulate light on a small chip, for example, for telephone exchanges. This technology, called triplex technology, is now used worldwide for many different applications.

From June 2012 until March 2014 Heideman worked as a parttime professor NanoPhysicsInterface at Saxion's Nanotechnology chair. Since March 2014 he is still attached to the chair as a visiting professor.
