Symposium Thinking Textiles

Registration open: Symposium Thinking Textiles

Leestijd Minuten

The theme of the symposium is Thinking Textiles. We are approaching the textiles industry from various angles. Sustainability is no longer optional. The subject is everywhere around us, for example, energy consumptiomn in production, reduction of waste, re-use of raw materials and innovation of materials. Next Thinking Textiles also applies to smart textiles. Today we are trying to connect electronics with textiles. That's how students do not just develop knowledge of textiles, yet they are also thinking beyond about smart technologies and sustainable solutions.

Organisation

The organisation of the symposium is done by the Saxion bachelor course Fashion & Textiles Technologies combined with the foundation de Maere. De bachelor course Fashion & Textiles Technologies is derived from 'de Hogere Textielschool 'De Maere'. This course exists already for more than 100 years. The foundation 'de Maere' was founded 75 years ago to support the education of textiles in the Enschede region. The celebration of the 75 years existence of the foundation De Maere is the reason for organising this symposium in Enschede.
