The First year
Project-based learning
The first year of the Fashion & Textile bachelor's programme is divided into four projects. You complete the first project independently, and the other three in groups. This gives you a realistic and comprehensive understanding of the field. You will visit companies, develop a collection, work on textile innovations, and discover what is involved in creating clothing and textiles. Each quarter, you will also take several additional courses that are not tied to the projects.

The Fashion and Textile Technologies programme is structured around the following themes
- Design
How do I design a collection that is commercial, sustainable, and aligned with the target group? To achieve this, you will conduct research into your target audience and the market. You will also analyze social and fashion trends, which you will then translate into usable ideas, concepts, and designs. - Business
What does the fashion and textile industry's supply chain look like, and what factors must you consider as an international buyer? How do you strike the right balance between people, planet, and profit? - Product
What textile materials exist? What are their properties, and how can you optimize them? What kinds of products can you make with them? Through thorough market research among end users, you will discover what the requirements are. You will then carry out tests in the lab to determine which materials perform best.
Most courses are integrated within the projects. You will receive hands-on lessons in the sewing studio, laboratory, knitting studio, and computer lab for Adobe and CLO3D classes. In addition, there are standalone subjects for which you will take exams. During the first year, you will take the following courses:
- Textile Materials 1–4
- Commerce
- Communication
- Research
- English
Sustainability is a central theme woven throughout the entire program. You will explore topics such as ethics and corporate social responsibility. You will learn to think critically and search for solutions and alternatives for ethical clothing and textile production. These are skills that truly matter to the next generation!

Deepening your knowledge
Year two builds upon what you have learned in the first year, focusing on the same core themes: Design, Business, and Product.
The projects in the second year are more demanding and more engaging. You will begin sourcing products from our partners in China and India, deepen your collection development knowledge, and conduct research for a fashion or textile company.
The second year also kicks off your preparation for internship and minor studies. Your sessions with your academic advisor (SLB'er) will help guide you in exploring the options and choosing what suits you best.

Go international!
The third year is all about your minor and internship. You will have the opportunity to study for six months at one of our partner institutions in countries such as China, Spain, the UK, Sweden, Indonesia, or Canada.
You will also start your internship. Would you like to gain experience in the purchasing department at Hunkemöller, Tommy Hilfiger, or G-Star? Or would you rather develop new materials for Rev’it, Enschede Textielstad, or Ten Cate? The choice is yours!
The fourth year
Collaboration and graduation
In your final year, you will begin with the Smart Solutions Project. Alongside students from various disciplines—like Electronics, Business Administration, and Industrial Design—you will collaborate to develop a solution for a real-world company problem. This interdisciplinary work leads to surprising and innovative ideas—we guarantee it!
In the final semester, you will complete your graduation project—either at a company or independently.
