Saxion University of Applied Sciences works at regional, national and international levels with educational institutions, businesses and organisations, government and semi-government authorities and alumni to achieve tomorrow’s smart world. As an educational institution, we are firmly rooted in the community and we are committed to preserving and strengthening the region through our education, research and entrepreneurship. We achieve our objectives through taking an outward-looking approach and seeking cooperation where we can.

Future-oriented education

We teach our students how to look at current issues in professional practice from a broader perspective and to come up with sustainable and practical solutions. In doing so, we work closely with businesses, institutions, organisations and local government authorities. We bring people, organisations and professional fields together, working across disciplines on practical solutions to help businesses and organisations take an immediate step forward.

Applied research

At Saxion, we do applied research based on questions from and for society and the business community. We look for ways in which we can contribute to a sustainable, healthy and safe world by connecting knowledge and technology. This research is carried out by research groups in which our students work closely with our partners in the business community and civil society organisations.

Stimulate entrepreneurship

At Saxion, we encourage and facilitate entrepreneurship. We support employees and students through knowledge, events, programmes and other facilities. This process involves much work with partners, entrepreneurs and local organisations.

Organization for the region

Saxion works with and for the region along with its partners, organisations and other educational institutions. As an educational institution, we also have the important task of contributing to the development of the Eastern Netherlands, the ‘Stedendriehoek’ and the Twente region.
